IN THIS LESSON

Learn the essential tools, sectioning, and prep techniques that every hairstyle starts with.

Challenge: Practice clean partings and create 3 neat ponytails (low, mid, high).

Hi there!

Welcome to Day 1 of the 14 Day Bridal Hairstyling Sprint

Before we touch a brush, I want you to hear this:

You do not need to be perfect.

You do not need experience.

And you do not need to impress anyone.

Your only job is to practice.

Every bridal hairstyle you’ve ever admired — every stylist you may look up to — started with foundations just like this. Today is about learning how hair behaves, not about creating anything fancy.

And that’s exactly why Day 1 matters so much.

What Today Is Really About

Today is about:

  • Control

  • Clean sectioning

  • Understanding placement

  • And training your hands to move with intention

Hairstyling doesn’t start with curls or buns.

It starts with prep and structure.

When the foundation is right, everything else becomes easier.

What You’ll Need Today

Keep it simple:

  • A brush

  • Tail comb

  • Hair elastics

  • Your own hair, a mannequin, or a model

Today’s Challenge

Your challenge today is to create three ponytails:

  1. A low ponytail

  2. A mid ponytail

  3. A high ponytail

This may sound basic — but trust me, this exercise builds more skill than you realise.

Ponytail Placement (This Is Important

  • Low ponytail:

Placed at the nape of the neck, sitting softly and naturally.

  • Mid ponytail:

Sits just below the crown — this is one of the most flattering placements in bridal hair.

  • High ponytail:

Positioned higher on the head, lifted and confident — but still smooth and controlled.

As you create each ponytail, pay attention to:

  • Clean partings

  • Smoothness

  • Balance

  • Tension (not too tight, not too loose)

A Gentle Reminder

If it doesn’t look perfect — that’s okay.

If one side looks better than the other — that’s normal.

If you feel awkward — that means you’re learning.

This is exactly where confidence begins.

What I Want You To Do Next

Once you’ve completed all three ponytails, please:

  • Take a photo (even if it’s just for you)

  • Complete your Day 1 worksheet

  • Tick off Day 1 on your progress checklist

Every tick is proof that you showed up.

Before You Go

I want you to finish today knowing this:

If you can control hair into three intentional placements, you can learn everything that comes next.

Tomorrow, we build on this foundation with curls — and you’re going to start seeing your hair transform.

I’m so proud of you for starting.

I’ll see you tomorrow!
